It’s May at the Grand Canyon South Rim and there were Elk everywhere we turned.  I love coming up here for a number of reasons but the wildlife will always be one of my favorite things to photograph.  Along with the deer, squirrels, and occasional American Condor, the elk can usually be found with a little luck on your side.

There are many wonderful places at the South Rim to walk, hike and visit and lots of wonderful history about how the structures came to be and who built them.  There was also a plane crash over the canyon in 1956 that helped establish the current FAA regulations.

Please do some internet searching, history lookups, and anything else that may interest you before you come visit this wonderful place so you can get the most out of your visit!
