My 1st NSV (“Non-Scale Victory”)

Too Big!!

I haven’t been posting much lately and I apologize for that.  There hasn’t been much to talk about….Seems like the scale hasn’t been moving much lately and I have started to doubt my actions…Am I eating too much? Eating the wrong things? Exercising enough? ya-da-ya-da-ya-da

Just for an FYI – I am eating approx. 1100 cal a day, 80 gm of protein, 65-70 oz of water, and walking at least 2 miles 5-6 days a week.  I have only lost 1.6 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

But today I had my very first Non Scale Victory (“NSV”).  I was getting ready to go out to photograph the wild mustangs in the Springs Mountains outside Las Vegas and needed a long sleeve blouse for the first time since last winter.  When I pulled this one (a favorite) out and found it’s way too big now!  The underarm is almost to my waist…lol!

I have noticed my day-to-day clothes are fitting better but this was a hallelujah moment!!  Although, I was a little bummed when I realized most of my favorite clothes will have to go away soon but so will the rest of my wardrobe in that size!  I feel so much better knowing that all the exercise that I am doing is helping my fat turn to muscle.  So even though the scale isn’t moving, my body is definitely reshaping itself.

So remember, do not get discouraged when you don’t see the weight loss you wish you could.  Your body is changing even if you don’t see it in the numbers each week.  Taking your measurements before surgery and then at these times when the scale isn’t moving will help keep you motivated.  The Lap Band is a tool for gradual weight loss following healthier food choices, smaller portions and daily exercise….slow and steady wins the race, and we will WIN this race!
